Manning Family Donates More Than 4,000 Meals to Ochsner Health Employees

Recipients include frontline employees treating COVID-19 patients

NEW ORLEANSOchsner Health is grateful to be the beneficiary of a generous donation of meals from the Manning family. They recently donated more than 4,000 meals to Ochsner employees from three different Louisiana-owned restaurant companies—Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Drago’s Seafood Restaurant and WOW Café & Wingery.

The first wave of meals was fed to Ochsner employees at 10 different locations across the New Orleans area, the Northshore, Bayou region and Baton Rouge. Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers and owner, Todd Graves, matched the Manning family’s original meal donation which doubled the total to more than 3,000 employees enjoying lunch or dinner from the fast-casual restaurant on Thursday, April 16.

“Our family was proud to support and partner with local businesses to provide meals for the care team members who are sacrificing so much and working tirelessly during these unprecedented times,” the Manning family said in a statement. “We have extreme gratitude for the service and sacrifice of all care team members working to manage the COVID-19 crisis.”

Ochsner employees will be served an additional 2,700 meals funded by the Manning family from Drago’s Seafood Restaurant (Saturday, April 18) and WOW Café & Wingery (Sunday, April 19).

“On behalf of Ochsner Health, I would like to sincerely thank the Manning family for its support and generosity. All of our employees, from environmental services and security, to physicians and nurses, are on the frontlines caring for patients with great compassion,” said Michelle Dodenhoff, senior vice president and chief development officer, Ochsner Health. “Having a hot meal waiting for them during a break is a welcomed sight. We are very grateful that so many local businesses and organizations have donated meals during this time.”
