Ochsner Health and Red Cross Donate Supplies to Harvey Residents Recovering from Hurricane Ida

As recovery operations continue a month after Hurricane Ida devastated communities throughout the U.S., Ochsner Health and Red Cross know that families in southeast Louisiana are still actively trying to rebuild and get back on track with their lives. To help, the two organizations have partnered together to provide essential household supplies and COVID-19 vaccines to residents in partnership with the Cao-Dai Temple of New Orleans in Harvey on Friday, October 8.

“Thousands of residents across Louisiana were impacted by Hurricane Ida, a disaster compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Kelly King, interim regional executive director of the American Red Cross of Louisiana. “As residents begin their recovery, we are thrilled to partner with Ochsner Health to support our mission of providing critical services in the face of emergencies.”

Ochsner and Red Cross provided first aid kids, disposable masks, personal hygiene kits, cleaning supplies, water and other critical items to residents and families in need. Ochsner also provided COVID-19 vaccines onsite.

Additional supply drives and events are planned in partnership with community leaders at multiple other locations across the region. These events align with Ochsner’s goals of building a healthier state by enhancing healthcare access and delivering care to underserved communities with the goal of promoting health equity for all.
