Ochsner Health Center – Covington Completes Expansion

New Facility Offers Sports Medicine, Headache Center and More

Ochsner Health System has expanded its footprint in West St. Tammany. The 43,000-square foot expansion of the existing Ochsner Health Center – Covington located at 1000 Ochsner Blvd is now complete.

Designed as a multi-specialty facility with both primary care and specialists available onsite, Ochsner Health Center – Covington has provided comprehensive healthcare to the Northshore region since it opened its doors in 2003. Services available at the expanded facility include a headache center, concussion management, occupational and physical therapy, orthopedics and sports medicine, pain management, performance training, physical medicine & rehabilitation and more. In total, the facility now encompasses 43,000 square feet, houses more than 36 specialties, has increased the number of patient rooms from 152 to 206 and added 3 additional operating rooms.

Highlights of the newly expanded facility include a HydroWorx® pool for aquatic physical therapy and a 60-yard training field for sports medicine. The expansion also offers the added convenience of new onsite amenities – an optical shop staffed with eyewear specialists, a pharmacy, and a PJ’s Coffee shop.

Ochsner Health Center – Covington’s expansion was designed by Rozas Ward Architects and constructed by Kent Design Build. Ochsner invested more than $20 million into the expansion, which broke ground in June 2016 and created 30 new jobs at the facility.

Ochsner Health Center – Covington connects the Northshore community to the entire Ochsner Health network of facilities and physicians through Epic – Ochsner’s integrated electronic health record system, which enables Ochsner physicians to securely share patient information, resulting in a higher level of coordinated care across the system. Patients can also access test results and schedule appointments online through personalized MyOchsner accounts.
