Ochsner Health Partners with Tyto Care to Expand Telehealth Offerings

Today, Ochsner Health System – a nationally-recognized healthcare system based in Louisiana – announced a new partnership with Tyto Care – the healthcare industry’s first all-in-one modular device and telehealth solution for on-demand, remote medical exams. This partnership expands Ochsner’s current telehealth offering, a consumer-facing virtual visit platform called Ochsner Anywhere Care, which is powered by national telehealth leader American Well®. Additionally, it marks the first time in the United States a healthcare system offers a telehealth solution with American Well, featuring a portable remote examination tool by Tyto Care.

The Ochsner Anywhere Care Health Kit, powered by Tyto Care, is a portable health kit that enables patients to capture physical examination data at home using a handheld device with a digital camera and various attachments and then share it with a provider using the Ochsner Anywhere Care app. It’s designed to replicate the exams performed during an in-office visit by providing high-quality digital sounds of the heart and lungs, digital images and video of the ears, throat and skin, and body temperature.

How It Works

The Ochsner Anywhere Care Health Kit complements an Ochsner Anywhere Care virtual visit. The health kit includes a Tyto Care handheld device with a touch screen designed to guide the user step-by-step through the examination process. Special attachments are included for examining the ears and throat, taking body temperature, and listening to heart and lung sounds. Following completion of the physical exam, which on average takes a matter of minutes, the patient logs onto the Ochsner Anywhere Care app to start a virtual visit and share the information gathered with a provider.

During the virtual visit, providers and patients communicate through video, and providers can diagnose illnesses, prescribe medications as needed, and suggest follow-up care. Ochsner Anywhere Care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for $54 per visit for urgent care needs.

Ochsner Anywhere Care users can instantly connect with providers through a secure, interactive video via their smartphone, tablet, or personal computer from home, work, or on the go. It’s an integrated and streamlined experience delivered through a free Ochsner Anywhere Care mobile app on iOS or Android, or online through a computer www.ochsner.org/anywherecare.

The Ochsner Anywhere Health Kit is not required for an Ochsner Anywhere Care visit, but it does provide tools to capture and share exam data, which can prove to be helpful for a provider making a diagnosis and treatment recommendation. The Ochsner Anywhere Health Kit, powered by Tyto Care, retails for $299 with $10 flat shipping if ordered online at www.ochsner.org/healthkit. It is also available for purchase at Ochsner pharmacy locations, O Bar retail stores, Ochsner Fitness Centers and Ochsner Total Health Solutions.
