Ochsner Joins New Orleans College Football Championship Host Committee as Title Sponsor of Volunteer Program

NEW ORLEANS–The New Orleans College Football Championship Host Committee (NOCFCHC) has named Ochsner Health (Ochsner) its Official Healthcare Provider and the title sponsor for its volunteer programs. The 2020 College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship will feature a weekend full of fan-friendly events culminating with the CFP National Championship game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Monday, January 13.

“Ochsner is a leader in the New Orleans community and we’re proud to partner with them in our efforts to host the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship,” said Jeff Hundley, the executive director of the NOCFCHC. “Ochsner’s expertise assures that we will have first-class medical and first aid stations at all CFP events, and its backing for our volunteer program will enhance the experience for the more than 100,000 visitors expected for this tremendous series of events.”

As the Official Healthcare Provider of the New Orleans CFP National Championship Host Committee, Ochsner will have medical and first aid stations across all CFP event locations, including the Playoff Fan Central at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the Allstate Championship Tailgate Plaza at Jax Brewery and the AT&T Playoff Playlist Live concert series at Woldenberg Park. Ochsner medical volunteers, including physicians, nurses and medical students, will staff these stations throughout championship weekend.

The Ochsner volunteer program will be a critical component to New Orleans’ hosting of the CFP National Championship. Thousands of volunteers will fulfill various ambassador roles throughout the city at various events and locations, including Downtown New Orleans, Louis Armstrong International Airport, Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and the New Orleans Riverfront. More than 100,000 visitors from across the country are expected to attend a full menu of events for fans during the weekend of the title game.

Individuals interested in being a part of the Ochsner Health Volunteer Program can register by contacting the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation at (504) 207-VOLS (8657). Official volunteer training sessions will take place Saturday, November 16 and Tuesday, November 19 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and volunteers are asked to commit to at least two volunteer shifts (approximately four hours each) during the championship weekend.

In addition to the championship football game, volunteers will play a vital role in the successful staging of the following events:

  • AT&T Playoff Playlist Live (January 11 - 12, Woldenberg Park) – a free concert series featuring major recording artists
  • Playoff Fan Central (January 11 - 13, Ernest N. Morial Convention Center) – a free interactive fan festival
  • Allstate Championship Tailgate Plaza (January 11 - 13, Jax Brewery Parking Lot) – experience extreme tailgating at ESPN’s New Orleans home for live broadcasts throughout national championship weekend and a free concert on game day.
  • CFP Media Day (January 11, Xavier Convocation Center) – fans can watch and listen to official media day activities with the two participating teams
  • Extra Yard 5K (January 12, Lafayette Square) – a 5K road race with proceeds benefiting teachers
  • Eckrich Taste of the Championship presented by Thrillist (January 12, Mardi Gras World) – a ticketed event featuring samplings from top New Orleans restaurants
