Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport – Monroe Medical Center Welcomes Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael O’Neal

MONROE, La. – Michael O’Neal, M.D. joins Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport – Monroe Medical Center as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. O’Neal is a native of West Monroe, La. and attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He earned his medical degree from LSU Health Shreveport – School of Medicine, where he completed his residency and served as the Chief Resident during his third year. Dr. O’Neal specializes in Internal Medicine with a focus in Hospital Medicine. Prior to joining Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, he was a Hospitalist in the St. Francis Medical Group and served as Co-Medical Director for the primary care hospitalist team at St. Francis Medical Center.

Monroe Medical Center is a 244-bed hospital with an Emergency Department, several clinics and an urgent care facility for those needing non-emergent care during extended hours. Monroe Medical Center was recently recognized by Newsweek as a top maternity hospital, one of only four in Louisiana, demonstrating excellence in maternity care. Significant investments and improvements have taken place at the Monroe Medical Center since the Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport partnership began in October 2018, including a new Hybrid Operating Room, a TeleICU program expanding critical care services, and several facility and equipment upgrades.
