S&P Global Assigns Ochsner Health an ‘A’ Credit Rating, ‘Very Strong’ Enterprise Profile

S&P Global Ratings assigned its ‘A’ issuer credit rating with a stable outlook to Ochsner Clinic Foundation d/b/a Ochsner Health (Ochsner). S&P Global Ratings issued a report on Tuesday, April 30 that reflected confidence in Ochsner’s finances, growth and leadership.

The report stated “the rating reflects our view of Ochsner’s growing statewide presence, integrated delivery system and forward-looking management team that has demonstrated capabilities of managing risk and incorporating clinical data and technology into its care delivery system. Ochsner's culture of innovation has allowed it to orient its system toward value-based payments while improving its operating model and its delivery of care.”

S&P Global Ratings report highlighted Ochsner’s:

  • Growing regional and statewide presence – Ochsner’s innovative partnerships across the state and Gulf South have generated revenue diversity and referrals, in addition to providing needed support and efficiencies to partner facilities.
  • Improved financial performance – Ochsner’s overall financial performance has seen continued improvement due to closely monitored operating expenses, increased revenue, continued growth and success in value-based payments.
  • Broadly improving volume trends – Ochsner’s flagship facility experienced high occupancy across key clinical services.
  • Experienced management team – Ochsner’s leadership has good depth and breadth of experience and qualifications with a focus on both strategic growth and clinical care strategies to reorient itself as the industry shifts to value-based payments.
