St. Charles Parish Hospital Now Offering Chemotherapy Infusion Services

LULINGSt. Charles Parish Hospital can now service patients with cancer even closer to home through its new chemotherapy infusion services. The hospital’s chemo infusion clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. on the first floor at 1057 Paul Maillard Road, Luling, LA 70070.

This new offering is an enhancement to St. Charles Parish Hospital’s continuing commitment to treating those in the community with cancer, which includes oncologists, Ryan Griffin, MD and Srikanth Tamma, MD, seeing patients on alternating Monday afternoons in their clinic space at the hospital.

"I am pleased to be part of the team that offers this new hematology/oncology service in St. Charles Parish," said Dr. Griffin. "We are committed to providing exceptional cancer care where patients live, no matter the size of the community. It's very beneficial for our patients to not only have the option to receive chemotherapy close to home at St. Charles Parish Hospital, but also have access to more specialized care within Ochsner Health System."

Ochsner Health System is committed to providing exceptional cancer care where its patients live, in large and small communities alike. With that goal in mind, St. Charles Parish now has even more options for cancer care near the comfort of their homes. That care is seamlessly coordinated with The Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center at Ochsner Medical Center- Jefferson Highway.

“Our new chemo infusion clinic is a tremendous growth opportunity for St. Charles Parish Hospital, as it keeps services in the parish that would go to other area hospitals,” said Austin Reeder, CEO of St. Charles Parish Hospital. “Our goal is to offer local residents high quality cancer care in a healing environment, close to home. We are beginning with three infusion chairs and hope to grow to more.”

St. Charles Parish Hospital is a 59-bed facility which was created as a service district hospital in 1959. In 2014, a partnership with Ochsner Health established the sharing of best medical practices and the implementation of advanced technology, resulting in improved quality, expanded access to care and reduction in medical costs. Since the beginning of the partnership, access to high quality healthcare has greatly expanded in St. Charles Parish including the opening of the Plantation View Medical Offices, providing expanded access to Primary Care, Urology, Family Medicine, Pediatrics and Women’s Services, as well as an outpatient Pharmacy.

In 2018, St. Charles Parish Hospital was recognized as a ‘Top General Hospital’ by The Leapfrog Group. The honor is designated based on data gathered through its annual hospital survey, which compares hospital performance on national patient safety, quality, efficiency and management standards. St. Charles Parish Hospital was the only hospital in Louisiana to receive this prestigious honor last year.
