The new community medical officer role comes a year after the formation of the 38-member Healthy State Advisory Board and furthers the collective Healthy State mission of creating healthier, happier and more productive communities, with health equity at the forefront of these efforts. Together, Healthy State members from every sector bring resources to underserved communities; better understand the impact of health and social conditions; utilize data, technology and innovation to improve outcomes; and invest in Louisiana’s economic growth and workforce.
The Institute for Value-Based Medicine (IVBM) is renowned for promoting value-based care and advancing healthcare practices. This upcoming event brings together panels of distinguished healthcare and community experts who will delve into the latest innovations of value-based care. Together, they will discuss ways to address food insecurity, obesity and chronic conditions, which are major challenges in Louisiana.
Guests will have the opportunity to speak with current Satellite Center team members (students) and facilitators (teachers) about their experiences. Guests are also invited to attend a smoking and vaping prevention presentation from Ochsner Health’s smoking cessation program.

Tulane University, Ochsner Health and the community nonprofit RH Impact have been awarded a seven-year, $16.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to establish a research center of excellence focused on finding solutions to address Louisiana’s disproportionately high maternal mortality rate.
Ochsner Digital Medicine has achieved Validation for Savings by the Validation Institute, an independent non-profit organization. The Institute confirmed in a new propensity-matched study that members of Ochsner Connected Health’s chronic disease management program have lower per member per month costs than similar non-participants.
World Health Day, celebrated annually on April 7, is an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO aims to “promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable – so everyone, everywhere can attain the highest level of health and well-being.”
Nearly 600 partners feature the Eat Fit seal on their menus. Last year alone, more than 1.4 million Eat Fit meals were served in restaurants across the state and nine schools now feature Eat Fit approved items in their school cafeterias. Peer-reviewed research has validated the success of the Eat Fit program, as well as the Alcohol Free For 40 Challenge.
