Ochsner Lafayette General Hosting Halloween-Themed Vaccination, Booster Event

LAFAYETTE – On Saturday, October 22, the Ochsner Lafayette General Vaccine Clinic will be open all day for families to get vaccinated or boosted against COVID-19. Kick off your Halloween plans by protecting yourself and your family from COVID-19. No tricks, just treats.

The Halloween-themed vaccination event will take place from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the clinic located at 816 Harding Street in Lafayette. Families are encouraged to join staff in wearing Halloween costumes. Treat bags will be handed out to those receiving their vaccination or booster.

Ochsner Lafayette General is currently only administering Pfizer vaccines and boosters.

The Pfizer vaccine and Pfizer Omicron booster are now authorized by the Food and Drug Administration for individuals 5 to 11 years of age and older. Boosters are available for those who have been fully vaccinated, no matter the number of boosters they have already received or COVID infection history. Patients are required to wait at least two months after receiving their last COVID-19 vaccine or booster before getting the new bivalent booster. Those who are unvaccinated will need to complete a primary series with the existing COVID vaccines to become eligible for the updated bivalent booster.

The bivalent booster targets both the original strain of COVID-19 as well as the Omicron variant’s BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants.

The current Pfizer and Moderna monovalent vaccines are still the recommended products for first and second doses.

Children between 6 months and 5 years are eligible for the earlier authorized COVID vaccines. The CDC recommends all children 6 months and older should get all recommended doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The public is encouraged to utilize the following location to receive their COVID vaccines and boosters:
